Larry Hill is a graduate of East Central High School and Sul Ross State University. At Sul Ross, Hill was a football team captain, a two-time All-American player, and a three-time team MVP. After his playing career ended, he was inducted into the Sul Ross Athletic Hall of Honor.
Coach Hill has been the Head Football Coach at Smithson Valley High School for the past 32 years. Hill has taken Smithson Valley to the playoffs in 28 of the last 29 years. Smithson Valley won the 2024 State Championship and has been to 5 State Championship Games, 8 State Semifinals, 12 State Quarterfinals, 14 Regional Finals, 23 Area Finals, and 29 Bi-District rounds. During the past 28 years, Smithson Valley has compiled a 293-70 record, including a 234-46 regular season mark. Coach Hill has a 325-102 overall career record. In 2016, Larry Hill was voted into the Texas High School Coaches Association Hall of Honor.
